Rhesus Macaque (Macaca mulatta)

Interesting :

Its back is brown in color. Other parts of the body are brown-gray in color. Its tail length is half of its body length. Its tail base is quite big and finer at tip. Its tail is shorter than that of crab-eating macaque. Its hair on both cheeks is like spiral.

Habitat :

It is found in Thailand, Myanmar, India, Assam, Nepal, Afghanistan, China, and Indochina. In Thailand, it is found in Northern part.

Food :

It eats vegetables, fruits, young leafs, insects, and small animals.

Behavior :

It stays in big group. The older is the leader. It likes to stay on reef in the forest, cliffs, and dry forests. It makes a living near its habitat. It likes to walk on ground. It is tame and does not fear for human.

Reproductive :

It is mature and ready for mating at the age of 3 – 4 years. Gestation period is about 5 – 7 months. One litter contains only one young.
